His suit was ruined while passing through the deserts. Then he was saved by the Air Force and sent back to the US. He announced that his company will not make missiles, but his partner Obadiah Stane disagreed him.

  Later, Stark developed a more updated and powerful version of the suit by using his artificial intelligence techniques. He described that this suit is based on a new technology that has flying capabilities. He uses this suit to fight the attackers. Once his PA informed him to that some soldiers are attacking their facilities. At that time, he uses this suit to fight with them. Later he came to know that the soldiers were Maggie, and Maggie is passing weapons to them. So, he returned to Afghanistan to battle against them. There he defeated them and gain the title of Iron Man.
