Firstly, Don't use Lion. Install Snow Leopard assuming you can do so,because L7 isn't supported on Lion or later OS versions. If you cannot install Snow Leopard becaue your hardware is too new then your only real solution is to purchase L9 from the App store. as that will run on Lion and above.

But. again, assuming you can install Snow Leopard on your Mac..

Once you have done that..

Call Apple and ask for assistance with getting your XS Key correctly authorized. Make sure you have your receipts and other info for your purchase of the L7 upgrade you bought. If you purchased the L7 upgrade from Apple themselves and cannot find the original receipt, they will be able to locate it for you with some additional info from you.
